Survey Instrument Operator

What You'll Be Doing

You'll work alongside a Survey Crew Chief, and at times independently, supporting a variety of land surveying projects, including:

  • Monument reconnaissance
  • Boundary surveys
  • ALTA/NSPS Land Title surveys
  • Topographic surveys
  • Aerial photo control
  • Construction stakeout
  • Survey research

You will:

  • Complete essential field tasks supporting daily crew operations
  • Collect accurate, high-quality field data
  • Prepare clear field notes and sketches
  • Operate and maintain survey equipment and company vehicles
  • Represent the company professionally in the field
  • Collaborate with office staff to ensure efficient project completion

Equipment & Technical Experience

We're looking for someone comfortable with:

  • Experience with robotic total stations is strongly preferred
  • Data collectors
  • Differential levels
  • GPS (RTK) equipment

Marketing & Proposal Coordinator

Part-Time

Allen & Major Associates, Inc. (A&M) is a multidisciplinary consulting firm providing land surveying, civil engineering, landscape architecture, and environmental permitting services throughout the Northeast. We support a wide range of land development projects within the private and public sectors.

We are seeking a Part-Time Marketing & Proposal Coordinator to support our marketing and business development efforts. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with an interest or background in the AEC (Architecture, Engineering, Construction) industry who enjoys both creative content development and structured proposal coordination. Hourly range will be expected at 15-20 hours and primarily based out of our Woburn, MA headquarters, though other locations are available.

Position Overview

The Marketing & Proposal Coordinator works closely with senior marketing staff and technical team members to develop, refine, and deliver high-quality marketing materials and proposal submissions. This role requires strong writing, editing, and organizational skills, along with the ability to translate technical information into clear, compelling messaging.

Key Responsibilities

Marketing & Content Development

  • Develop and manage social media content, including posts and graphics aligned with firm branding and strategic goals.
  • Assist in the creation of marketing materials, advertisements, and firm collateral.
  • Support consistency in branding, messaging, and visual identity across all platforms.
  • Collaborate with senior marketing staff to ensure content clarity, accuracy, and alignment with firm positioning.
  • Maintain and update the firm's project experience (past performance) database for tracking key metrics and client testimonials, and apply toward future efforts.
  • Engage with technical staff to interview and extract relevant project details to aid in the marketing efforts.
  • Support corporate directives for industry events, publications, and awards.
  • Ensure all deliverables meet company standards for quality, branding, and compliance.
  • Support the Business Development Specialist on RFP pursuits.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • AEC industry experience preferred (architecture, engineering, construction, or professional services).
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Close attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint) required; experience with Canva or Adobe Creative Suite preferred.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms (LinkedIn, Instagram) and content development.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with both marketing professionals and technical staff.
  • Visual literacy for layout design for captivating marketing.
  • Proactive personality for engagement.

Senior Project Manager

Allen & Major Associates, Inc. is seeking a Senior Project Manager with 10+ years of experience in Civil Engineering to join our growing team in any of our three offices (Woburn, MA, Lakeville, MA, and Manchester, NH).  Responsibilities will include the management of development projects from concept to completion with a special focus on fostering client relationships and utilizing your technical knowledge to lead project teams and mentor junior staff.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to work on a diverse portfolio of projects and be able to manage projects from initial concept through completion. You should possess the technical and management skills required to ensure the successful completion of assigned projects, on time and within budget.

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of the Massachusetts land use entitlement processes and local and state regulations.
  • Experience with private developments performing site due diligence, preparing land use permit applications, understanding zoning laws, and presenting to municipal agencies.
  • Experience with municipal projects is a plus. 
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and prioritization of responsibilities in a pressure work environment.
  • Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including senior management, clients, regulators, and company-wide staff.
  • Proficient with making technical computations and calculations involving the application of engineering principles, understanding plans and specifications, and making factual comparisons to the appropriate regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and provide guidance and leadership to junior-level team or project members, with strict adherence to QA/QC procedures.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively, persuasively, and tactfully interact with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to travel to project sites and attend public hearings and business meetings as required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Civil design software tools including AutoCAD, and HydroCAD.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Professional Engineer registration in Massachusetts.
  • 10+ years of professional engineering experience.

Civil Project Engineers

Allen & Major Associates, Inc. is seeking Civil Project Engineers in our Woburn, MA, and  Manchester, NH offices. The ideal candidate will have 3-5+ years of experience in the preparation of civil/site construction documents and permitting submissions (local, state, and federal) associated with a variety of private land development projects.

In this role, you will work closely with the firm's Principals and Project Managers to support private land development projects in various phases of development. 

The ideal candidate must have the ability to perform grading, drainage calculations,  site due diligence, and assist with the preparation of engineering plans, construction documents, specifications, and engineering reports, preparation of permit submissions, and perform construction administration services. 

Proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office is required; knowledge of HydroCAD and Civil 3D is a strong plus. The ideal candidate should be able to work well in a team and possess strong verbal and written communication skills.  

Basics:

  • Experience in private development.

Civil Designer

Allen & Major is looking to fill a full-time civil engineering design position in our Woburn, MA office. As a project designer, you will be assigned to work on development projects of varying size and scope. Project types may include retail, multi-family residential, commercial, medical/institutional, and mixed-use developments. We are looking for a self-motivated team player with a positive attitude and a range of 0-3 years of experience in civil/site design.

Successful candidates should have or be completing their Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.  Proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office is a strong plus.  This position will require construction site visits, inspections of stormwater system components, and other construction-related tasks as needed.
